Quetzalcoatl Studies
Studies for the Mural "The Ascent of the Plumed Heart; A 21st Century Interpretation of the Mythology of Ehécalt-Quetzalcóatl, completed 2001 in Cuernavaca, Mexico. All drawings in charcoal on 22 x 30" on cotton paper. The spiritual motif of the "precious twins", "plumed serpent", "wind before the storm", "lord of the near and far", etc. incorporates maize, the serpent, the heart, the interior of the conch shell, spirals, vascular branching structures and twins. These drawings were synthetic in this sense, never used directly in the mural but constituted an initial means of meditating on the forms.
